About Billabong Tours

COOKING
Fully catered - breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner & supper
OR
Self catered cooking - lead vehicle will carry camp ovens, BBQ, plates and billies which can be used by the group, extra cooking equipment and gas equipment can be brought along if so required. Please refer to the equipment checklist or ask if not sure.

EMERGENCY CONTACT
We will carry a RFDS radio for any emergencies. For any urgent messages to be relayed to any party in the group, please call Billabong 4WD Tagalongs head office on 07 3284 4066.

EQUIPMENT
A checklist is attached, this is a guide only. You will need normal camping equipment, a solar shower is advisable, portaloo is optional (the usual bush shovel is always available). No extra ordinary equipment is required except for a CB or UHF radio.

FOOD
Supplies of food will be available at certain points on the trip and we recommend you top up your supplies at these points. A few days of canned food should be on hand as a backup at all times. Plan for 7-10 days worth of food at any one time.

FUEL
Fuel will be available as per the itinerary appendix, prices may be higher in some places but please allow for this rather than carry lots of extra fuel. LPG Auto gas is not usually available in remote places. Longest distance without fuel is approximately 600 klm.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
Your vehicle should be checked and suitable for off road travel at time of departure. A full check of all suspension and engine equipment can be arranged with us prior to the trip in Brisbane. This check is free but any repairs or replacements required would be at your own expense.

Due to the length of the trip and the terrain we will be covering a grease and oil change is recommended for most vehicles. Please bring along some spare parts for your vehicle, such as air and fuel filters and fuses. Engines and Gear oil is also suggested but can be purchased as required at major towns on the trip.

OTHERS
We suggest you upgrade your NRMA/RACV/RACQ etc. membership to 'plus' level as these have proven to be invaluable in cases of major breakdowns. Additional 4WD insurance on top of your car insurance is optional. Please check your policy to see what exactly is covered on Off Road Conditions.
