Cape
York Tours
Cape York
is one of the true wilderness areas in Australia, if not the world.
It's the uniqueness and diversity of Cape York that attracts thousands
of visitors each year.
From the coastal
rainforest of Cape Tribulation and Iron Range to the open plain
country of Lakefield National Park, Cape York has something to offer
everyone.
You can revel in
the abundance of wildlife or perhaps catch a 'barra".
Whilst Cape York
remains "the" destination for the Off Road enthusiast,
it is the captivating history of the region which adds to the experience.
For instance, did you know that the first recorded sighting of mainland
Australia by the Europeans was just north of present day Weipa,
or that there was a fort built on Thursday Island to protect Australia
from a northern invasion by the Russians.- The Cape is full of history.
Whilst we have the
opportunity to explore the Cape in the comfort of modern day four
wheel drives, consider the hardships faced by the early explorers
who opened up the cape. It is a wild frontier today so imagine what
it was like in the 1840's when the Cape was first explored on foot.
The isolation and the history will amaze you !
So why not be hosted
by BILLABONG OFF ROAD TOURS for a memorable,
action packed adventure to a unique part of Australia. We will visit
such places as the historical "Lions Den" Hotel, Cooktown,
Lakefield, Archer River, Weipa, Elliot Falls, Umajico, Bamaga, Seisha,
Thursday Island, Somerset, Captain Billy Landing, Pascoe River,
Iron Range, Chilli Beach, Musgrave, Palmer River and Chillagoe.
